Drone Communication

Drones (Unmanned Aerial Systems (UASs)) have become critical in everyday life and on the battlefield and are becoming more important and more broadly used every day. These drones require robust, reliable operation across a wide range of frequencies.
Tactical drones in particular must be high power and high linearity to allow long range transmissions, must be efficient to allow long battery operation, and must be highly frequency agile to counter jamming attempts, The highlighted iCana wide-bandwidth drone PAs exhibit these exceptional qualities. In addition, iCana's high efficiency sub-6 GHz Wireless infrastructure PAs can also be used in drone applications, where high efficiency is critical and the absolute widest bandwidth is not required. iCana's current and upcoming drone PA portfolio includes a family of 8W peak wide bandwidth PAs and a family of 16W peak wide bandwidth PAs. The 8W PAs are pin to pin compatible with each other as well as iCana's wireless infrastructure PAs. The 16W PAs are pin to pin compatible with each other. These PAs are designed in a high–power GaAs process, avoiding the negative aspects of LDMOS and GaN designs, including the negative gate voltage and high drain voltage requirements.
